Nvidia GTX 790 Possible CES 2014 Details

First off I want to say that any information in this post about a possible Nvidia GTX 790 is pure speculation so take the information with a grain of salt but it could still be a great insight into the next stage of Nvidia’s plan.

Rumors are circulating about possible specifications of Nvidia’s next dual GPU, the GTX 790. Chiploco has published an article about the possible spec of the GTX 790 that could be released as quickly as February and might have the information released at CES 2014. Now lets get into the nitty gritty of this rumor. First off the Nvidia GTX 790 rumored specifications below.

Possible Nvidia GTX 790 Specs

  • Dual GK110 chips
  • 4992 total CUDA cores
  • 10 GB of memory (5 GB per GPU)
  • 640 bit memory interface

Not that any of these specs are far fetched but it is interesting when you compare these specs to the GTX Titan or GTX 780 Ti. Basically you end up with each GPU having 2496 CUDA cores per GPU when the GTX Titan has 2688 and the GTX 780 Ti has 2880 CUDA cores. So looks like the GPUs if this information is correct will be somewhere between the GTX 780 and GTX 780 Ti in terms of CUDA cores. Another question raised by the this information if correct is that Maxwell is on the verge of launching so why isn’t Nvidia waiting till the next gen to bring out a dual GPU? Hopefully at CES some light will be shown on this and we get more than rumors and speculation but either way the more GPUs Nvidia and AMD put on the market the better it is for all of us consumers.

Just another reminder that all of this information is purely speculation so it could be perfectly on target or completely false.
